  • Q 1.      Purpose of our site visits ?​​
    A 1.      Carrying out inspections of properties to enable officers to perform valuation exercise i.c.w compulsory acquisition cases, registrar general cases, rental cases , minor cases and municipal tax .​​
    Q2.      Outcome of our site visits?
    A 2.      Inform relevant institutions of market value, amount of compensation, rental to be paid.
    Q 3.      Ratepayer phones Valuation Department to inform that his/her residential/commercial building has been demolished?
    A 3.      Ratepayer will be informed of procedure to follow.
    Q 4.      Ratepayer does not want to pay tax as he/she is an old pensioner?
    A 4.      Matter should be referred to Mayor who has the discretion to exempt someone.
    Q 5.      Ratepayer wishes to be assessed separately?
    ​A 5.      Deeds in respect of individual owner would be required to do so.
    Q 6.      Ratepayer still paying tax though sold property?
    A 6.      Informed of procedure to be followed.
    Q 7.      Ratepayer seeks explanations in respect of notices sent to them?
    A 7.      They are being given requested information.    
    Q 8.      In case ratepayer finds rates to be excessive and objects to same?
    A 8.      Inform the latter that this matter will be referred to Valuation Tribunal.
    Q 9.      In case claimant not agreeable to amount of compensation?
    A 9.      Would explain that the matter would be referred to Board of Assessment.
